Chris Rock

Here is a video link to Chris Rock talking about the War on Terror, and how ridiculous political parties are.

I think some of the dumbest, most ignorant people in our country are the hardcore democrats and hardcore republicans. These two groups of extreme people are very narrowed minded and set in their beliefs and will not give the other side the time of day. For example most hardcore democrats who blindly follow like sheep, had a heart attack when Rush Limbaugh said he hoped Obama's policies failed. That doesn't mean he hates Obama or wants this country to fail. It meant he hopes that Obama isn't able to succeed with getting his massive spending agenda through congress, and public opinion. The same can be said about extreme republicans who took Patriotism to another level. They love this country so much, and what Bush is doing so much, that they started hating anything that they felt took away was hindering this divine patriotic cause they think they have going. Remember back to the early 2000's and even now, these true blue Americans had a very negative, almost hateful attitude to anyone who they thought was Arab, or an illegal Latino. I feel we're also starting to see this hate and negativity toward the Asian community.

  1. I definitely agree with you on the points you made about the hate towards arabs/middle-easterners in the early 2000's.  I can also see this happening with the asian population too, especially with the growing tension with North Korea.  I read an article yesterday quoting North Korea government officials saying that they will continue to test nuclear weapons and launch new satellites, and if anyone shoots them down they will be considered at war with North Korea.  If this situation advances too far, we will only see more racism towards asian americans.

  2. Don't forget about the growing discontentedness of illegal aliens coming here from Mexico. Now more than ever we're hearing complaints of illegal immigrants "taking our jobs" or using up our medical resources during a recession and an increase in unemployment. We put forceful resources toward busting into factories and farms to deport the workers who are trying to be productive with their lives and are actually model citizens, helping our economy. We could instead put the same resources toward busting drug dealers (some of which are rooted in Mexico and Latin America) and start cleaning up our streets and the youth who have fallen subject to this culture. It's sad to see our nation complain about the melting pot it once prided itself on.

  4. I agree with you Pat, over the next few years I think we'll see a lot more tension between Americans and Asians. As countries like China become more powerful economically, and countries like North Korea start turning a deaf ear to what the UN and US has say about how they handle their nuclear weapons, we could see a potential disaster.

As China grows economically, and starts realizing all the money they've borrowed to the US won't be paid back, and the US T-Bonds they have invested in are becoming more risky and less valuable everyday. They'll view us as an anchor that is holding down their ship of economic prosperity. Since our economy is so dependent on Chinese imports, and borrowing money from them to finance our wars, iPods, cars, and redecorating our houses. If they were to cut off us off, supply for a lot of everyday items would go down, meaning there will be shortages and prices will go way up. We also couldn't have them finance our wars. The government with its infinite knowledge would then try to solve these problems by printing the money to fund these expenditures, and that would lead to hyperinflation much like what happened to Germany in the 1920's.

As our country's economy is weakening we are seeing a lot of people pointing fingers. As things get worse I think we'll see a lot more hate and tension towards and between many ethnic groups.

Yeah Ross, Chris Rock is very intelligent and funny guy who understands a lot of the social and economic problems our country is facing. He is a real interesting guy to listen to.
